History
In the State of Karnataka a Police Officer was a forgotten soul once he relinquished his office on superannuation. He was remembered only symbolically on Commemoration Day on 21st of October and 2nd April as a flag day every year. They were solemn occasion and a ceremonial get together respectively sponsored by the State. They were organized and sponsored officially by the State. They were not forums for a retired police officer to be heard.
The formation of a Welfare Association of retired police officers was conceived and given momentum by some likeminded retired police officers who had excelled in their call of duty while in service. They have rendered a yeomen service for the birth of this forum for the welfare of retired police officers. We owe our origin and birth to these brilliant officers. In this regard we fondly remember Shri. Mudalaiah, Shri. B.K.Shivaram and several others.
The official launching of the Association was followed by formulation of Bye Laws and enrolling of members. — Though there were initial hiccups the membership gained acceleration and presently we have 350 members on the rolls.
The day to day function of the association is attended to by a committee headed by a President assisted by office bearers comprising two Vice Presidents, one Secretary, Two Joint Secretaries a treasurer and eight Executive Committee members. They assume office by the virtue of biennial elections.
